Southern part of Bali is the centre

People come to the temple to pray and plead for safety physically and mentally. Based on a story, Uluwatu Temple was

was on his glory era. Another resource said that this temple was built by a
priest called Dang Hyang Nirartha or Pedanda Sakti Wau Rawuh from
Daha (East Java). He and his family came to Bali in 1546, in Dalem
Waturenggong’s glory era. He built the temple because he did his redemption
or is usually called ngeluwur. There are also many monkeys (it is better for

Lot means a small floated island on the middle of the sea.
When the wave is died down, some
tame white-black snakes will appear from the rocks, which are believed as
God’s. There are also some plain water sources and also only appear when the
sea water is died down.

characters. This temple has got its ceremonial event on Wage Langkir
Wednesday. It is held once in 6 months or every 210 days. On the day, people
will come to pray and plied for peace and tranquility. The existing story of Tanah Lot
Temple is tied in with Dang Hyang Nirartha’s life story. He came from
Blambangan, East Java, in the 16th century, in Dalem Waturenggong’s
glory era in Gelgel Village. He did a holly spiritual journey, by
walking along the southern part of Bali beaches, started from the west until
the east. When he arrived on a beach,in Tabanan village, not far from Baraban

shivers. Finally, he suggested building a temple on the small rocky island,

| Mother Temple Besakih Bali |
8th day Sidemen-Ubud.
Pura Besakih is the biggest temple in Bali. This temple was built by Resi
Markandya, started by putting five kinds of metal (silver, copper. iron, gold,
and ruby), called Panca Datu, in the 8th century, when at
that time, Besakih Temple was called Basukihan Temple. In the 10th
and 11th century, King Kesari Warmadewa visited basukihan Temple and
built Merajan Slonding Temple. According to Batu Madeg epigraphy, Empu Baradah
has also ever come to Besakih Temple in King Erlangga glory era. King Kresna
Kepakisan and some ther Gelgel Kings also have ever been to Besakih Temple.
They were interested to the spiritual activities there. At that time, all
things and needs for Besakih Temple’s ceremonial event were handed by Klungkung
Kingdom, the highest ruler. Besakih Temple is the place for honoring Siwa.
Padma Bhuana Manuscript says that Besakih Temple is considered as Huluning Bali
Rajya. It is based on some considerations, in deal with Sad Khayangan Temple
relationship with Besakih Temple. For examples: Penararan Agung Besakih Temple
is Desa Temple’s beginning, Basukihan Temple is Puseh Temple’s beginning, Dalem
Puri Temple is Dalem Temple’s beginning, Ulun Kulkul Temple is Kulkul’s
beginning, Banua Temple is Jineng’s beginning. Besakih Temple also has got a
function as Padma Bhuana Temple, such as: Gelap Temple (in the east) for
honoring Iswara, Lempuyang Temple (in the eastern part of Bali), Kiduling
Kreteg Tempple (in the south) for honoring Brahma, Andakasa Temple (in the
southern part of Bali), Ulun Kulkul Temple (in the west) for honoring Mahadewa,
Batukaru Temple (in the western part of Bali), Batu Madeg Temple (in the north)
for honoring Wisnu, Ulun Danu Beratan Temple (in the northern part of Bali).
After walking around at Besakih Temple,
we will visit Kintamani Village. There is a special place for a rest in Penelokan Village. We can see and enjoy beautiful scenery from Lake
and Mount Batur. Besides enjoying the beautiful view, you also are able to have
a nice lunch in some restaurants there. To get on to the lake’s edge, you
should go down, pass the curved road, and cut across the mountain and the lake.
There are a lot off hardening lava around the Mount Batur.
Sukawana manuscript says that the
words of Kintamani came from ‘Cintamani’, which means there is a place for
doing tapa and ashram (a place for doing yoga), used by many
hermits and Buddhist monks, such as: Siwakangsita, Siwanirmala, and
Siwapradjna. Another opinion says that the word ‘Kintamani’ came from two
words; Cinta and Mani. Cinta means love, and Mani means feeling or sense of
touch. So, they concluded that ‘Kintamani’ means a quiet place for relaxing and
loving each other.
Mount Batur is an active mount. It
exploded greatly in 1917, which caused thousands of people died, and a lot of
temples were damaged, includes Ulun Danu Temple which is located near Mount
batur (now, Ulun Danu Temple has been renovated already), and people call it
Gejor Bali.

Bali, 16 km wide and 65-70 meters deep, and the main water source for the
Balinese people. Next, Tegallalang will be our next
